Lean In
· Read Isaiah 55:8-9
· What are some of God’s ways that you find it difficult to understand?
· Have you ever thought something similar to, “If I was God I wouldn’t do it that way.”
Look Down (Ephesians 1:3-6; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; John 6:44; Romans 8:29; John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:9; 2 Thessalonians 2:)
· According to Ephesians 1:4, who did the choosing? When did He do the choosing?
· What does Ephesians 1:13 say about a person’s role in salvation.
· When we think of God’s election, we often focus on the part that gives us difficulty rather than the beautiful side of what it means to be chosen by God.
· What does it feel like to be chosen? Chosen by a spouse? Chosen for inclusion in an activity? Chosen to be a friend? Chosen for a team? Chosen by God?
Look Out
· Should the truths found in 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 affect our relationships with others?
Look In
· What are some of the implications of having been chosen by God according to Ephesians 1:4? (See also Deuteronomy 7:6-8)
· Fill in the blanks – “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be ______ and __________ in his sight. In love.” (Ephesians 1:4)
· Is there action you need to take in response to the truths of Ephesians 1:4?
